Phone First for Urgent Care

Description

The Phone First for Urgent Care Service is for patients including children, who are considering attending ED or Minor Injury Unit with an urgent but not life threatening injury or illness are being asked to ‘Phone First’. Patients ringing this service may be advised to proceed directly to ED and given an access code, some may be appointed to one of 3 MIU’s in Southern Trust – South Tyrone, Craigavon & Daisy Hill.

Some patients may be given an appointment to attend the Urgent Care Centre, based on the Craigavon Hospital site for Face-to-Face assessment by GP or First Contact Physio. If diagnostics are required e.g. bloods, ECG or X-ray these can be arranged through the Urgent Care Centre. Other patients may be directed back to their own GP, closed with advice, or directed to a community pathway as appropriate

For all life threatening emergencies (including stroke, heart attack, loss of consciousness, breathing difficulties, severe bleeding or major trauma) bring the person to the ED if you can without delay, or call 999 immediately.
