New Atrial Fibrillation

Description

This service provides support, clinical management and treatment of patients with Atrial Fibrillation (with particular emphasis on immediate pharmacotherapy; risk assessment; secondary prevention; cardiac rehabilitation; and post MI health and lifestyle advice).

Referral Criteria
  • Primary Care commences drug treatment and refers directly to New AF clinic (referral and ECG required);
  • ED to commence treatment immediately and then refer to Ambulatory Cardiology Service;
  • Review Nice guidelines and Pathway. Commence on 1st line Pharmacological treatment.
