Low Dose CT Scan

Description

GP Direct Access for low dose CT in the Lung Cancer Diagnostics Pathway.

Referral Criteria

Patient meets Red Flag criteria to Respiratory Service.

Aged over 40 years if they have 2 or more of the following unexplained symptoms:

  • Unexplained persistent cough (>3 weeks)
  • Fatigue
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest pain

Aged over 40 years and have a history of smoking and have 1 or more of the following:

  • Unexplained persistent cough (>3 weeks)
  • Fatigue
  • Shortness of breath
  • Chest pain
  • Weight loss
  • Appetite loss
  • Persistent or recurrent chest infection
Service Access

GP refers via NIPACS with 24 hour pathway recorded on reason for referral, Patient attends X-Ray and Examination reported within 24 hours so that patients can be managed in the community
