Genitourinary Medicine (GUM) & HIV Outpatient Service

Description

The GUM (Genitourinary Medicine) Service is a consultant led service providing sexual health advice, testing , treatment for genital infections and other sexually transmitted infections and provision of HIV PEP and PrEP.  An HIV outpatient service is also available and will accept new HIV diagnoses from SHSCT area. 

GUM Clinics are held in:

  • John Mitchel Place, Newry – Monday and Wednesday
  • Portadown Health Centre – Tuesday and Thursday
  • Outpatients, Craigavon Area Hospital – Friday morning

HIV clinics are held in:

  • John Mitchel Place, Newry – Monday
  • Outpatients, Craigavon Area Hospital – Thursday
Referral Criteria

The following list of referrers can access this service by calling the telephone number during the access times listed.

  • GP - CCG (DHH GUM) or Telephone
  • Self - Referral

CCG referrals will be triaged within 3 working days.

Urgent Referral Criteria

    • Under 16 years old (Vulnerable adults and LAC)
    • Pelvic inflammatory disease
    • Epididymitis
    • 1st episode genital ulceration
    • New HIV infection

For HIV Post Exposure prophylaxis (PEPSE) please contact the clinic by telephone for a same or next day appointment.

Acute sexual assaults should be discussed with The Rowan (Sexual Assault Referral Centre).
